Devi Ajith & Sangeetha Mohan In Police Custody

Two actresses landed in police custody in the city during the last 24 hours. While one actress was held for drunken driving, another was booked  for abusing a traffic constable.

Devi Ajith of Vattiyoorkavu was held by the Peroorkada police after the Maruti Alto car which she was driving lost control and toppled near Pippinmoodu Junction, near Sasthamangalam, on Tuesday night. Devi, who was under the influence of alcohol, was subjected to medical examination by the Peroorkada police. A case of drunken driving was registered against her and she was released on bail, sources at the Peroorkada police station said.

On Wednesday afternoon, actress Sangeetha Mohan was booked for abusing and disrupting a traffic police constable in his duty. A case was also registered against the traffic constable John based on a counter-complaint by Sangeetha that he had abused her. The incident had occurred in front of the Corporation office. Sangeetha, who was driving a Maruti car, had allegedly violated a traffic signal. The traffic constable alleged that the actress had abused him when he asked her to stop the vehicle.

Sangeetha, who later came out of the Museum police station, said that the traffic constable had given her a written statement tendering his apology for the indecent behaviour towards her. It may be recalled that Sangeetha was held by the Fort police a few  months ago for drunken driving during the wee hours.
