Alyssia Or Amar?
With two hot, young talents like Alyssia and Amar on the Urban Desi scene right now, there is a huge possibility of some healthy competition developing. Although it hasn't happened yet, like any two artists who share the same space, it's only a matter of time before the two get pitted against each other. While they each have their own individual sound and differences within certain aspects of their careers, they share many similarities as well.
Both are young South Asian women from the UK who sing sweet Hindi vocals over urban beats.
Alyssia has a very classical sound that has a bit of a Bollywood flavor. The singer actually began her career singing Bollywood tracks before she linked up with the Panjabi Hit Squad. Amar on the other hand has deeper vocals with a fun, pop, sound.

Collaborations
Both ladies have collaborated with artists in the Hip-Hop scene. Alyssia created a buzz in 2007 when she teamed up with the loudest man in Hip-Hop 'Fatman Scoop' as well as being featured on remixes for 'Mr Hudson and the Library.' The chatter around Alyssia continued this summer as her fans waited in anticipation for her single, "Meri Jaan," that just released this August.
So while Alyssia continues to make waves in the Urban Desi scene, Amar is stealing the spotlight in the West. She has been referred to as a producer, Timbaland's muse and recently dropped the track "Masala," which was produced by Timbaland's camp.
Fashion
Aside from their music, both girls dress to impress. Alyssia embraces both the East and the West, which we saw in Ms. Scandalous' video for "Aag" where she rocked a trendy yellow halter. She wore an equally sexy outfit in the video for her track, "Tera Pyar ," but this time it was a baby pink sari with a blue sleeveless blouse.
Amar on the other hand has opted for edgy western wear since her come back. In her video for "Masala," she rocked out in short dresses and high stilettos. The singer also exhumes her edginess through her makeup. From bright eye shadows to shimmery lip gloss Amar's image is quite flashy and glam.
While we'll leave it up to you to decide which artist you prefer, one thing that is clear is that both of these women are talented and their careers are on a rise.
