Janmashtami celebrations KRISHNA BHAJANS, KRISHNA AARTI, JANMASHTAMI SONGS

All Indian festivals, especially the ones surrounding Gods and Goddesses are usually very elaborate and often musical. Janmashtami which is celebrated in the occasion of the birth of Lord Krishna is one such festival. The event is celebrated on the eighth day of the month of Shravan, under the influence of the ‘Rohini’ Nakshatra. Since both the requirements are not always fulfilled on the same day the celebration is carried on through two consecutive days.
The first day known as the “Krishnashtami” culminates into the grand celebration of the lord’s birth hour at midnight. This celebration is carried out with a lot of chants and songs. Even after fasting the whole day the devotees still find the energy to sing praises in the name of the Lord Krishna.
The songs sang in prayer or in praise of the Lord are called Bhajans and their origins are rooted in ancient Indian tradition. The third Veda which is the Sam Veda, even records the descriptions of the Bhajan. Bhajans are sung in a group where there is usually a lead singer and the others follow. Dhrupad is the most famous style of Bhajan and so is kirtan, which is described as the Bhajan of the Haridas tradition,
