My Name is Khan for Rs 100 crore | Fox bags rights for My Name Is Khan in Rs 100 crore deal

My Name is Khan for Rs 100 crore | Fox bags rights for My Name Is Khan in Rs 100 crore deal - Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer My Name is Khan, directed by Karan Johar, is set to create a record ahead of its release early next year with Fox Star Studios reportedly buying its marketing and distribution rights for around Rs 100 crore.

This makes it the biggest distribution deal in Bollywood, outstripping Rs 90 crore for Aamir Khan-starrer Ghajini.

The film, co-produced by Johar and Khan, has a Rs 55 crore budget and is set against the 9/11 terror attacks and its impact on an Indian Muslim living in the US.

'My Name is Khan' is pegged as one of the biggest Bollywood releases with Shah Rukh and Kajol playing opposite each other after many years and is directed by Johar under his home production company Dharma Productions.

According to industry watchers, Dharma Productions and Fox Star — the film marketing, distribution and production arm of Rupert Murdoch’s Fox and Star TV Network — have been in talks for a 50:50 co-production deal for Bollywood films. The distribution of 'My Name is Khan' could be the starting point of their relationship.

Asked about the deal, Vivek Krishnani, head of distribution, Marketing and Syndication at Fox Star Studio, said: “We have been in talks with Karan Johar for movie rights. That is the stated position. I do not know if any deal has been struck on this matter nor do I know if something has been worked out in Los Angeles.”

Fox Star Studio came into prominence for distributing the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire in India earlier this year. So far, Fox has signed contracts with several film makers from both the Hindi and Tamil film industry.

Shahrukh ends his cold war with Aishwarya | Ash, SRK end seven yr old war |

Shahrukh ends his cold war with Aishwarya - Shahrukh Khan is all set to end his seven year old cold war with Aishwarya Bachchan. If sources inside the industry are to be believed Shahrukh plans to cast Aishwarya in his next home production. The two stars who had delivered blockbusters like Mohabbatein and Devdas had fallen apart on the sets of Chalte Chalte after Aishwarya was ousted from the movie and replaced by Rani Mukherjee.

It was then being rumoured that Salman Khan who had just been dumped by Aishwarya created a lot of ruckus on the sets. The movie was going nowhere with Salman's behaviour and Shahrukh who was producing the movie finally decided to oust Aishwarya from it. Since then the two stars have not been in talking terms and engaged in a cold war.

But things changed after Karan Johar’s birthday bash. Ash and Shahrukh joined hands after King Khan had apologized to her for the wrong and forgetting the past later Ash, Abhi, SRK and Gauri set the dance floor on fire.

Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly been approached to play a villain in Dhoom 3.
If he accepts the role, Khan will follow in the footsteps of John Abraham in Dhoom and Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Dhoom 2.
NDTV claims that the Bollywood superstar was offered the role because of his good relationship with production company Yash Raj Films, which was behind his box office hits Chak De! India and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Khan has previously played iconic villains in Baazigar, Anjaam and Darr.
Shooting on Dhoom 3 is expected to begin early next year, with either Aditya Chopra or Sanjay Gadhvi in line to take on directorial duties.
