Tanushree Dutta Debut In Kollywood...

She’s smart, sweet and sharp. And she’s now in town shooting for her first Tamil film, Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai, much to the delight of her fans down south. Tanushree Dutta, after making heads turn in Bollywood, is all set to rock Kollywood.

Catches up with the star for an exclusive ...

On her debut in Kollywood ...
I’m excited to be here as south India has lots to offer and is an interesting place. When I say interesting that includes the culture, ambience and working atmosphere.

On her role in Theeratha Vilayaatu Pillai ...
My role has many shades. I play a very sportive character and have a very ethnic look in the film. They want me to play a native Tamilian girl, which I found to be very interesting because though I do look a very traditional Indian girl, playing an ethnic character can be a challenge as I do not know the language.

On whether she intends to learn Tamil...
Yes. I’m making an effort to learn Tamil. Every day on the sets, I make an effort to pick up the language little by little. So far, I’ve managed well with the dialogues because the team has given me the script in English and I have a good memory by God’s grace.

On the delay in making her debut in Kollywood ...
After my first film in the south, a Telugu film titled Veerabhadra, I got several offers from the south. However, I was busy with Hindi projects because I had just entered Bollywood. That wasn’t the time for me to dabble in too many mediums at once. I had to concentrate on one medium and hence could not take up offers. As for taking up this project, my dates were available and I liked the story. So, I agreed.

On her co-actors Vishal and Prakash Raj ...
Vishal’s wonderful to work with. I think he’s part of the young, hot and happening generation of heroes. It’s fantastic to have him as a co-star because the unit and he make me feel so comfortable. As for Prakash, he is a tremendous actor. He makes acting appear so effortless and has a presence on the sets that is so awe-inspiring.

About chennai...
I’ve been to Chennai before for events but this is the longest time I’ve spent in the city. Surprisingly, I like it here. I was talking to friends in Bombay and they’re like, ‘By the way you sound, it looks like you really like the place. Don’t settle down there.’

On the working styles in Kollywood and Bollywood ...
Strangely, I think the working patterns are pretty similar. I’m not feeling out of place at all. That’s probably one reason why I think that the working styles are not very different. Also, there was a time in the past when Bollywood was notorious for its unprofessional ways of not being organised and punctual. But today, things have changed. Bollywood is also working in an organised manner.

Future plans down south...
I would definitely like to do films in the south. However, I don’t plan anything.

Dr. Ajmal Gets Romantic!

Dr. Ajmal Gets Romantic!
Here’s some news for Ajmal fans. The doctor-turned-actor is exploring his romantic side with his new film Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru (T4).
Ajmal made waves in Kollywood as Kriba with his first film Anjaathey , where he played a pivotal role that won him accolades. In TN-07 AL-4777, he played the second hero and also shook his leg in a peppy number, which was also accepted by the audience.
But now, the big question being asked is whether Ajmal will be accepted as a romantic hero in T4 , directed by debutante director Nandini JS? Says Nandini, “ Ajmal plays Arjun, an advertising executive, a very bubbly guy with a terrific sense of humour. The chap is a harmless flirt who has girls eating out of his hands.
The story is all about the love-hate relationship between Roopa and him, peppered with some peppy numbers by Mani Sharma. The audio of the film will be launched in the first week of August.” And the buzz is that Ajmal is going to be the next "oh-so-sweet chocolate boy” in Kollywood!

Madalasa to debut in Kollywood?

Upcoming siren Madalasa Sharma, who made a glamorous entry in Tollywood with Fitting Master opposite Allari Naresh, has been reportedly roped in to play the second heroine in forthcoming the Tamil film Vettaikaran (Hunter), starring Ilayathalapathi Vijay as the hero.

SARVAM

- A s t y l i s h t h r i l l e r w i t h r o m a n t i c i n t e r l u d e s

Ayngaran International's 'Sarvam' directed by Vishnuvardhan is a stylish romantic – thriller flick starring Arya and Trisha. Vishnu is coming back with his blue-eyed boy Arya after 'Arindhum Ariyamalum' and 'Pattiyal'. Considered as the most stylish film of the time, 'Billa' starring Ajith was a super hit for the director and he is keen to cope up with the abounding expectations.
Adding to the hype is, Arya's latest 'Naan Kadavul' in which he has meticulously worked for three years and came out with an astounding performance. In an interview, he said that Bala was so concerned about his next project and was happy when he came to know it is 'Sarvam'. The on-screen chemistry between Arya and Trisha is said to have evolved beautifully.
The title 'Sarvam' is christened by the makers depicting the fact that in any one's life within a fraction of a second, their whole life could change outright for good or bad. No one has the control over the consequences that happens all of a sudden.
'Sarvam' has some good reasons to be anticipated with the first being Vishnuardhan's script. A Civil engineer (Arya) and a child specialist doctor (Trisha) falls in love and all goes well until they run into a gang leader who's chasing a father and son for unknown reasons. Jam packed with action and thrilling elements, Vishnu has co-written the screenplay with his associate Gokul.
An interesting factor is popular Malayalam actor Indrajith (as the father) and Telugu director JD Chakravarthy (who acted in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Sathya' a decade back) is in the cast for giving a fresh look to the movie. Rohan, a young boy is debuting in the role of the son. Cinematography in action- thriller flicks carries a lot of weightage and the responsibility is shouldered by ace cinematographer Neerva Shah (Dhoom, Pokkiri, Billa) while editing is handled by Srigar Prasath.
Musical score composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja is peppy and lively. The audio recently launched is going good in the charts. Billa's rocking background score gave a rich feel for the movie and Yuvan is said to have recreated the magic once again. Out of the five songs, one of it has been shot completely featuring CGI effects which will enthrall the audience. In present times, stunts are being choreographed so realistic and the same way is undertaken for this film. Art direction by Manu Jagath alias Manoj, who is a long-time associate of Sabu Cyril is one of the major assets. First half of the film has been shot in Chennai while the entire second half has been done in Munnar.
Vishnuvardhan always delves into disparate themes with films like 'Arindhum Ariyamalum', 'Pattiyal' and 'Billa' to his credit. 'Sarvam' made by a dedicated and talented cast & crew is a flick to watch out for which will hit the screens today.

Review : Karthik (Arya) is a flamboyant, brave architect who does things in his own style. Sandhya (Trisha) a young and beautiful pediatrician became a doctor for the love of children. Love sweeps these two opposite poles. Meanwhile Naushad (Indrajith) and his beloved eight year old son Imaan (Rohan) is threatened to be revenged by mentally imbalanced Eashwar (J.D. Chakravathy). What makes him torture an eight year old boy and his father is kept secret. Somehow the two tales are entwined through series of events and Karthik finds himself threatened by Eshwar. The twist of fate leads to thrilling climax between two men, one with utmost courage to protect life and the other with insane power to destroy the same. The secret slowly reveals a shocking story behind the happenings. This movie will be nice experience to watch. Its a blend of romance ,comedy and emotions. Must watch assured.

Early life and background
Asin was born into a Roman Catholic, Syrian Christian family in Kochi, Kerala. Her father, Joseph Thotumkal originally from Thodupuzha, managed several businesses and was considered a prominent entrepreneur before he stopped managing his businesses and decided to manage his daughter's acting career instead. Furthermore Asin's father accompanies her to all her foreign shoots. Her mother, Seline Thottumkal, remains a surgeon despite moving settlements from Cochin to Chennai to Mumbai to live with her daughter. Asin has quoted that her name "means without blemish and pure". She claims that "the 'A' in [her] name is from Sanskrit and word ‘Sin’ from English"[citation needed]. She also mentions that she "has not come across anyone with same name".

Career

Early work, until 2004
Asin Thottumkal debuted in a supporting role in Sathyan Anthikkad's unsuccessful Malayalam film Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001, at the age of 15. After taking a year out to pursue her education, Asin returned with her breakthrough film as an actress, Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi opposite Ravi Teja, portraying a Tamil girl in her first Telugu language film, which subsequently fetched her the Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Actress.[2] In the same year she won the Santosham Best Actress Award for her performance alongside Nagarjuna in her second Telugu film, Shivamani.[2] Her following two Telugu films, Lakshmi Narasimha and Gharshana, both portrayed Asin as the love interest for police officers, giving her two more solid hit films, cementing her place as a leading actress in the Telugu film industry.
Asin's first Tamil language film was M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi, in which she co-starred with Jayam Ravi. Asin reprised her role from her film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi for the remake, which saw her portraying a Malayali girl instead of the Tamil girl in the original. The movie subsequently went on to become one of the biggest hits in Tamil cinema during 2004, introducing Asin to Tamil film industry.[3] After a brief return to Telugu films, to do Chakram, her first failure as a senior artiste, she appeared in Ullam Ketkumae.[4] The film, initially launched in 2002, was originally meant to be the launch for Asin as a lead actress, along with then-debutants Arya and Pooja Umashankar. The college love story, directed by Jeeva, was long-delayed but eventually became a successful venture at the box-office, creating wider opportunities for her and the rest of the lead cast.[5]

Breakthrough, 2005 - 2007
After the release of Ullam Ketkumae, Asin became publicized as a leading heroine after signing films with the four leading actors of the Tamil industry: Surya, Vikram, Vijay and Ajith in Ghajini, Majaa, Sivakasi and Varalaru respectively.[6] The venture which provided the breakthrough for Asin to become the leading South Indian actress was her Tamil film, Ghajini. The film, co-starring Surya and Nayantara and directed by A. R. Murugadoss, helped Asin secure the Tamil Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Her role, that of a vivacious young model called Kalpana who dies, became a trendsetter and was parodied in several other films after the release of Ghajini.[7] Sify.com praised her portrayal as "magical" and that "Kalpana was the lovable chatterbox, [with] sheer ability in the romantic interludes, the poignant and heartfelt scenes when she rescues minor girls from villains and her gory end are touching".[8] The reviewer further went on to mention that "The chemistry between the lead pair in the first half is a delight", a view that became common among film producers who attempted to put their pair opposite each other for the films, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal and Vaaranam Aayiram, both of which started without Asin.[9] The following Diwali in 2005, Asin had two big releases in Sivakasi and Majaa. Despite the latter becoming an average grosser, the former also went on to be a successful venture at the box office, despite Asin's poorly etched out role.[10][11]
The following year, Asin opted for a less hectic schedule, becoming more choosy with her roles, rejecting several opportunities in the process. Her long-delayed venture, Varalaru opposite Ajith Kumar, became the biggest blockbuster of 2006 in Tamil cinema, after releasing for Diwali 2006. The film's hero-centric plot retreated Asin to the sidelines, but her role was well acclaimed by critics.[12] Asin kept intact with her popularity in Telugu films by appearing in Pawan Kalyan's Annavaram, another successful venture in which she had a poorly-etched out role.[13] In January 2007, Asin appeared opposite Ajith Kumar and Vijay in two different films, Aalwar and Pokkiri, with the latter becoming a super success, whilst Aalwar became a failure. The two projects which released on the same day, had been billed up as rival films due to the rivalry of the lead actors in the films. Whilst Asin's role in Aalwar was criticized, her performance in Pokkiri was lauded by critics.[14][15] Her final project of the year was opposite in Hari's Vel, which had a Diwali 2007 release, subsequently becoming her third successful film which released during the Diwali season in three years. The film saw Asin and Surya put apart their creative differences and appear alongside each other after Ghajini. Asin, who portrayed a TV anchor, was appreciated for her role in the film.[16]

Success, 2008 - present
Asin appeared in her first dual role in K. S. Ravikumar's magnum opus Dasavathaaram opposite Kamal Haasan, who portrayed ten roles. The film, which was under production since September 2006, became Asin's largest film till date. Despite being overshadowed by Haasan's ten roles, Asin's portrayal's in the film were praised as her "best-to-date" with one of her roles being that of a Vaishnavite in the 12th century; whilst the other character was a Brahmin girl from Chidambaram.[17] Dasavathaaram subsequently went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters in South Indian film history.[18] Since establishing herself as the leading actress in South India, Asin opted to move into Bollywood, to get nationwide fame. Her first film, Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan was the remake of her breakthrough film of the same name. Upon release, the film garnered positive reactions from critics and masses alike, with Asin being singled out for her "fabulous" portray. Noted critic, Taran Adarsh describes her Hindi debut as "fabulous" and that "to share the screen space with an actor of the stature of Aamir Khan and yet remain in your memory even after the show has ended is no cakewalk. She looks fresh and photogenic and acts her part brilliantly", giving Asin's performance a positive outlook.[19] Asin is committed to Vipul Shah's London Dreams alongside Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, in which she plays a member of a five-troupe band.[20] Furthermore, Asin is commited to Bharat Bala's trilingual international project titled 19th Step made in English, Japanese and Tamil in which she co-stars along with Kamal Hassan and Tadanobu Asano.[21] In the project, Asin reportedly plays the role of an Indian Princess who falls in love with a Japanese Warrior who comes to ancient Tamilakam to learn the ancient Dravidian martial art of Kalaripayattu from a veteran.[22]

Directed by Akash and produced by SJ Ratnavat on the banner of Devi Movies, 'Sweet Heart' with Akash himself playing the hero and Daisy Bopanna as heroine had completed shooting and other post-production formalities recently. The first copy of the film is also ready now. Addressing the media, Akash says, 'We watched the first copy and all of us felt happy for bringing out a nice film. I was able mould the story that was in my mind exactly on the celluloid with the complete cooperation from the producers. Dr. Kamal Hassan's presence in the function made it very superb. I guess Pasanga is totally fun loaded film for children and also for grown up. This film is released at the right time when all kids will be enjoying summer vacation, this movie will be good treat for them.
Dr Balamuralikrishna has sung a song in the film and was very happy to work with such young and talented team.
